What makes you laugh ?

The greatest sign of being happy is laughing, which you see on a person's face. Although the reason can be different like one use to laugh at a joke other may be at different one, but overall, we all have perceived the feeling of joy several times in our life.

Being happy is one thing and laughing at something is what makes each and every part of your body joyful!

But have you ever laughed forcefully?

Perhaps there could be a condition where you have to laugh at the weirdest jokes of your friend just to let him feel humorous, but here you will gonna meet with a chemical which once when you exposed to it, you can't resist laughing!

Laughing Gas -

The name itself reveals the most dominant effect of this chemical i.e, when you get exposed to it , you would laugh irrespective of your mood!

So why this chemical makes you laugh, what is the chemistry behind this, what is actually going through your brain, can this be efficient at something else or not. All these thing you would see below.

Chemical aspects of Laughing gas -

Actually laughing gas is one of the oxides of Nitrogen which is chemically called as Nitrous oxide having molecular formula N2O.

At room temperature Nitrous oxide is a colorless gas having a very pleasant scent like odor. It is a non- flammable gas, which is capable in getting soluble in water.

Getting exposed by it, will make you laugh, due to a very interesting effect which is called euphoria which you would experience upon inhaling it.

How this Euphoria makes you laugh?

Euphoria is actually an effect of feeling pleasure, calm, happy, sometimes even laughing (as in case of N2O) due to the activation of certain stress releasing hormones like Dopamine.

Upon inhaling the Nitrous oxide, it activates such type of hormone in the central nervous system which leads to this condition or the effect called Euphoria.

Now due to this amazing euphoric effect of this chemical, Nitrous oxide has a wide applications especially in medical fields.

Laughing Gas Dentist -

Tooth problems are counted among those medical problems which in spite of seems to be a mild one, gives you a lot of pain unless taken prescribed medications.

In the general case, we try to get rid of these problems by clearing the affected area with a brush or oral solutions. Like each one has to follow a general prescription of brushing out teeth twice a day.

In some advanced cases, we apply clove oil to the affected area as it is a very strong anti-bacterial agent and really helps in getting rid out of several tooth problems.

But even after doing all this, certain conditions are so much unbearable that one has to go to a dentist to get rid out of this.

Laughing Gas for Kids -

Although tooth problems are so unbearable that irrespective of your age, it sometimes just not let you get rid out of this and you have to go to a dentist.

But the thing is that as compared to the elder ones, kids become more frightful when they see the dentist's equipments as well as the procedure which a dentist use for treatments.

So to make the kids comfortable with the required procedures which a dentist has to follow, he put a small mask over the nose of the kids, in which he is providing this safe and effective gas i.e, Nitrous oxide mixed with oxygen, that helps in keeping the child relaxed and making the kids cooperated with the required procedures.

Laughing gas during labor  -

Accidents and diseases are generally the main cause of physical pain which a human being feels when he came across with them.

There is a special kind of device which was developed in the 20th century by the scientists to measure out the intensity of  the pains which a human being experience when he go through them.

This device is called Dolorimeter and the intensity of pain is measured out in the unit called DEL.

Now the thing is that according to the scientists, an adult and physically fit human being is capable of bearing a pain up to 45 DEL units. It means that it is the maximum limit up to which he can bear with his resisting power towards the pain which he is feeling.

But the amazing thing which this nature makes possible for a pregnant woman is making herself capable in bearing the pain, she feels during the labor.

According to a research, it has found that a woman experience up to 57 DEL units of pain while giving birth to her young ones.

Perhaps you are not very familiar with this unit so there might be a chance that you can't imagine such amount of pain.

But some of you have definitely gone through the condition where one of your leg's or hand's bones got fractured, ones in life and it is really a painful thing. So you might be capable to imagine that 57 DEL units are actually equivalent to the fracture of 20 BONES TOGETHER !

So pain, which a mother feels during giving birth to her young ones is really unimaginable but she manages it and it is more than a sufficient fact that she must be praised out for her being !

How the laughing Gas helps into this -

Actually to relieve the labor pain, there are several kinds of medicines available in the market and due to the large amount of pain, women do so to get into relief, but the thing is that they are having other bad side effects of medicine.

Although everything should be taken in limit, but the good thing about laughing gas is that a pregnant woman during labor pain is advised to may take a limited amount of a mixture of Nitrous oxide with oxygen.

The best part of this is that it makes possible for the woman to bear the labor pain and this laughing gas is the least expensive option available for such purpose.

One additional thing that must be included in this is that it has the least effect on the baby (the ultimate choice of having any analgesics)!
